It’s tough sticking to a habit.

So many of us start the year, month, or week with a new goal. Whether that’s to fitness, reading, or sticking to a healthy diet.

We can usually sustain momentum for a few days, or even weeks. But life finds a way to throw you fall off the bandwagon.

Consistency is hard for many of us.

Not only because of the MANY changes we’ve all experienced in the last year but also due to the number of shiny objects and opportunities there are available to anyone connected to the internet.

Do I start a podcast? Create a YouTube channel? Start a grassroots organization dedicated to a cause? Try freelancing?

Temptation is all around us, and it's easier than ever to get distracted or have an external disruption (a pandemic, attempted insurrection, etc) throw us off our well-laid plans and ambitions.

As someone who has a long list of unachieved goals and habits, I get it. But I recently discovered a concept that has proved remarkably effective in keeping me stick to a habit and surprisingly counterintuitive.
